Rainy Day Idea Guide for Bellmore

Don't let the drizzle fizzle your plans.

Sure it's summer and you'd rather be at the beach, but when it's dreary and wet instead of sunny and dry, a change of plans is in order. Here's a list of some indoor activities for both adults and children. These places in Bellmore will get you get out of the house while keeping dry.

Newbridge Arena

Newbridge Road Park's indoor ice skating rink is a sure way to keep cool in the summer. They are offering a summer special of $5 admission and $2 skate rental. Children under 5 are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Bellmore Playhouse

The village's largest movie house, Bellmore Playhouse is playing an array of movies for whatever your cinematic mood. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children. Eat Pray Love, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Expendables, Inception, The Other Guys, Vampires Suck or Nanny McPhee Returns. Click here for showtimes.

SportsPlex

This 16,000-sq. ft. facility is packed with tons of athletic activities - batting cages ($2.50 for 20 pitches), a pro-spec pitching mound ($20 for 30 minutes) and courts galore. There's also video games, air hockey, pool tables and ping pong ($7 for 30 minutes).

Creative Corner

Kids and adults alike can express themselves at Creative Corner. Just pick your ceramic pottery piece (offered at varied prices) and use brushes, sponges and stamps to make your masterpiece. Prices include firing. Or try your hand at their glass fusing projects., including bowls, tiles, picture frames or jewelry.

All American Gymnastics

Let the kiddies burn some energy (and you too as you chase after them) at this full service gymnastics center. Call 409-0300 for a schedule of classes.

Paint Me a Picture

This creative place for budding artists is offering an end of summer drop-off camp artshop. The 10 a.m.-1 p.m. session includes pizza is $35 per day and the 2 to 5p.m. session includes a snack and is $30 per day.

I never had any kids.. and am the last kid who went to to the Bellmore Merrick school system.....itsRead More been almost 40 years since I was a Mempham grad..and it is very disharting to hear that my many many high tax dollars..are not enought for these kids I have been sororting all these years!!! Who is getting all the money??? Its all bull.. aI live inbetween teachers.. how is it they can afford high end cars, housekeepers, landscapers, ect??????... the money is being spent in the WRONG WAYS TO THE TEACHERS, AND MOST OF ALL THE ADMISTRATION, THE SCHOOL BOARD ECT... I AM CALLING FOR A MASSIVE AUDIT AND GET0 per year.. they afe not worth any more then that.. THE MONEY BACK FROM ANYONE WHO WAS PAID MORE THEN $75,00....

A bit of a surprise considering kids come home with a supply list a mile long (and average $40-$75).
