North Bellmore Library Releases Proposed 2013-14 Budget

The North Bellmore Public Library has released a copy of the proposed budget, which will be voted for on April 11 from 1-9 p.m.

The total increases by 1.9 percent, which adds up to a $2,653,590 proposed budget. The biggest anticipated increase is in benefits, which are slated to jump $58,050. The cost of staff is expected to rise by $18,200 as well.

To help offset those costs, the Library Board is proposing drops in funding for materials, library operating expenses, office expenses, building maintenance and furniture, just to name a few.

Library officials also expect to generate revenue via costs associated with fines, lost books, book sales, book rentals and community room use.

Based on this budget increase, a home in North Bellmore assessed at $341,200 would contribute $298.81 per year of total property taxes to the library, according to the proposed budget, which is attached.
