Hershey's on Bedford Avenue Closes

A local resident said that they are interested in taking over the franchise.

Hershey's of Bellmore at 305-309 Bedford Ave. has shuttered.

The business, which was owned by bothers, Tommy, Bobby and Ronnie Gies of Merrick, opened in Bellmore in January 2012.

A local resident who wanted to remain anonymous said that they are very interested in buying the franchise.

The storefront is one of a number of empty businesses on Bedford Avenue, including the property that once housed Ralph's Italian Ices. Weinman's Hardware, which has been on Bedford Avenue for 91 years, is set to close this year.

Aside from a weak economy (thanks Santaprompter), you can't disrespect your customers and hope to be successful...

Hi brother from another mother. Not enuf local foot traffic to support local businesses in towns. I'm not a fan of low income housing...what about senior housing downtown?

If the new owner can make the correct deal with the owner of the property I am certain that the community and customers will see an improvement.

Advertising, that is...If one of our neighbors opens it up, let it be known

Thank you for the clarification. If a deal is worked out, that is definitely what the new owner will do. It will be marketed as not just a location but it should be a destination.
