After being on Merrick Road for more than 30 years, Friendly's closed its doors.
A manager at a nearby Friendly's, who did not want their name published, said that the eatery closed due to lack of business.
Residents were shocked to hear that the family-themed restaurant shuttered.
Alexa Tauella, 20, said that she went to Friendly's a great deal when she was a child.
"It's really sad because that is the place that we all used to hang out," she said.
Rose Rebentisch said that she ate at the restaurant just two weeks ago.
"I'm definitely going to miss it," she said. "I would always take my kids there when they were younger."
Customers are urged to visit nearby Friendly's locations in Baldwin (945 Merrick Road) North Wantagh (1187 Wantagh Ave) Massapequa (555 Broadway) and Massapequa Park (4812 Sunrise Highway).
