Bellmore has begun to decorate for the holiday season, but one usual ingredient will be missing this year due to Superstorm Sandy.
The snowflakes, which have been mounted on poles in years past, will not be able to be used because the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) is going through inspections of the poles and the transformers on them.
"Some poles need to be replaced and we will lose some installed hardware," Bellmore Chamber President Debby Izzo said. "We will be replacing hardware over the course of the year and getting ready for an all out lighting next year."
"Thanks for understanding and passing the word around town," Izzo added. "We all have our burdens from Sandy. Let us continue to help those around us that need it in the spirit of the holidays."

I hope next year it will be better and also maybe fixing the dead areas where some of the snowfalkes wasn't lit (maybe a bad connection someplace). Otherwise it won't be the same without seeing them this year.
