Schools Closed Once Again Thursday

Schools across Bellmore and Merrick have decided to close shop yet again on Thursday, according to an email from North Merrick Superintendent David Feller.

This includes the North Merrick, Merrick, North Bellmore, Bellmore and Bellmore-Merrick Central High School Districts.

"This decision is being made as much of the community is still without power and power has not yet been restored to all of our schools," Feller told parents in an email. "I hope that you are safe. As I toured the district today, I saw many fallen trees. If you plan to celebrate Halloween today, please exercise caution as you may need to navigate around debris, fallen trees, and or fallen power lines."

As far as Friday is concerned, Feller said that decision will be made on Thursday.

"I will communicate with you tomorrow to let you know of our status for Friday," he added.
