Elderly Woman Critical After Being Pulled From Shore Road Blaze

The Bellmore Fire Department, along with several other emergency personnel units are at the scene of a house fire on Shore Road.

According to witnesses at the scene, the home was occupied at the time of the blaze.

Vinny Scaduto, the public information officer for the Bellmore Fire Department confirmed that an elderly woman was unconscious when she was removed from the home.

The victim had to be rescued from a second story window and was transported to an area hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. Her son, however, escaped the blaze uninjured.

The woman is in critical condition at Nassau University Medical Center, according to Shelley Lotenberg Director of Public Affairs.

Additionally, two firefighters are stable and will be treated and released.

Shore Road in South Bellmore experienced major flooding and damage after Hurricane Sandy and some homes remain without power.
