Grand Avenue Student Approached by Stranger

The man engaged the young boy in conversation before a neighbor intervened.

A Grand Avenue Middle School student was approached by a stranger in a Toyota Camry Wednesday, according to an email to parents from principal Carlo A. Conte.

Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the man, described as a white male driving a brown Toyota Camry, approached a boy near the intersection of Bellmore Road and Magnolia Road.

The man began to engage the boy in conversation, Conte said, but when a neighbor approached the vehicle, he allegedly sped off.

"The neighbor was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle and filed a police report soon after the incident occurred," Conte said.
