Bellmore Woman Charged in Early Morning DWI Hit-and-Run

A Bellmore woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly struck a man with her car and fled the scene of the incident, police said.

According to detectives, a 38-year-old man was crossing Sunrise Highway northbound at Rose Place at around 3 a.m. when he was struck by a 2001 Hyundai Elantra, which was driven by Marne Morrison-Hackett, 31, of Bellmore, who was traveling westbound.

Cops said that Morrison-Hacket fled the scene, but she was apprehended a short time later by a Seventh Precinct Officer.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Morrison-Hackett has been charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree vehicular assault and aggravated unlicensed operator.

She has been convicted of driving while intoxicated once before, cops added.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
