What is Playback?
According to Shari Paltrowitz, founder and organizer of the group, "it's all about kids giving back to our community through music."
Paltrowitz,
a JFK High
School senior, bassoonist, and pianist, contacted some of the
best music students on Long Island. They came
with instruments, voices and top notch skills to rehearse at Paltrowitz's home
in Bellmore. The lack of power and heat from
Hurricane Sandy never stopped them! The kids arrange solos, duets, and
ensembles without help from teachers, schools, or professionals - all designed
for performances at Assisted Living and
other community centers. The kids share the passion of talented and giving
young people.
"They're like little
professionals," one
Bristal
Assistant Living
Center resident
observed.
"Bravo," another
cried as residents tapped their feet, smiled, and hummed to the music that
filled their hearts.
Playback performers come
from local high schools and colleges, all determined to share their music.
Their next performances are at:
Atria Senior Living
Center, Plainview - Sunday, December 2nd, 3-4 PM
Bristal Assisted Living at East Meadow,
Saturday, December 15th, 7:15-8:15PM
Guests are welcome to see
the performance.
