4. Grand Avenue Students Donate Cell Phones to Soldiers: Senator Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick, recently congratulated Grand Avenue Middle School students for collecting more than 1,300 cell phones for his "Cell Phones for Soldiers" program.

3. Calhoun Student Approached by Stranger: A stranger attempted to lure a Calhoun student into his car while he was walking home from school on Tuesday.

2. North Shore Farms Construction Underway: Construction started at the soon-to-be North Shore Farms, which will be located at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Pea Pond Road in North Bellmore.

1. LION Holds Protest in Bellmore: Members of Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) gathered outside of Worldwide Puppies and Kittens last Saturday to urge Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign a bill that will allow local municipalities to regulate pet stores.
