A high rip current risk is in effect until this evening for the Bellmore and Merrick area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The surf height is expected to be 4 to 6 feet.
The NWS said that the high risk of rip currents will likely continue throughout the upcoming weekend "as swells from Tropical Storm Leslie affect the coast."
