No Injuries or Rescues in Bellmore During Hurricane Irene

Vincent Scaduto, public information officer of the Bellmore Fire Department said Bellmore residents were able to stay safe because they took necessary precautions.

Bellmore residents awoke to power outages and massive flooding this morning.

But, fortunately there have been no rescues or any injuries in Bellmore, Vincent Scaduto, public information officer of the Bellmore Fire Department said.

"I think a lot of people listened to what we told them to do," Scaduto said. "We have not had any rescues. There was a lot of flooding and trees down, but no fires and no injuries."

Scaduto urged residents to stay safe.

"The storm is expected to get better in the afternoon," he said. "If you don't have to leave your home, don't."

Scaduto said he is glad that residents were able to stay safe as Hurricane Irene passed through.

"It was considered a good night," he said.
