Mangano Selects Bellmore-Merrick Training Center for Disaster Relief Trailer

An equipped trailer was placed at the Bellmore-Merrick Fire Department's Four Towns Training Center.

With the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy approaching, County Executive Ed Mangano recently announced that an Office of Emergency Management (OEM) fully equipped disaster response and relief trailer has been placed at the Bellmore-Merrick Fire Department’s Four Towns Training Center on Merrick Road in Merrick.

“This allocation of resources is crucial to Nassau County's aggressively proactive approach to future natural and made-made disasters,” Mangano said.  “The location of the trailer at the Four Towns Training Center provides central access for our residents living in the Merrick and Bellmore communities."

The primary function of the disaster recovery and relief trailer is to ensure that vital resources needed to provide first aid, shelter and hygiene to residents and emergency first responders are immediately available.

"In the event of a catastrophe, we anticipate having the disaster recovery and relief trailer at the Training Center that will serve as an easy point of access for crucial recovery and relief resources,” Mangano said.
