Lane closures on the Meadowbrook Parkway may affect local travel plans.
According to a release from the New York State Department of Transportation, the left northbound lane is closed to motorists between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Also, the left southbound lane will be closed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
These off-peak closures are needed to repair the concrete center median divider and will be in effect until Oct. 26. This repair will help ensure the safety of the approximately 97,000 motorists who use this section of the Meadowbrook Parkway each day.
“As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather,” the release said. “Emergency service providers and local officials have been notified of these travel lane closures. Motorists are being warned in advance of these closures via portable and overhead INFORM electronic message signs.
Drivers should use alternate routes such as Merrick Road or Wantagh State Parkway to avoid delays.
