Important Message From Eileen Connolly Assistant Principal John F Kennedy High School

An Important Notice From Eileen Connolly, Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy High School Re: Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner   Dear Friends, I truly hope that you and your family are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with those suffering from the effects of Super Storm Sandy. As you can imagine, the coastal communities of Bellmore and Merrick suffered great damage during the storm and upon our return to school on Wednesday, November 7th, we learned that many students were either displaced from their homes altogether or lost clothing and school supplies. It will take quite some time before their families can re-build. As you know, we are scheduled to hold our “Hall of Fame/Cougar Nation Wall of Honor” Dinner and Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, December 1st at the Coral House in Baldwin. Nine outstanding alumni (Susan Katz Holland ’69, Steve Hunte ’73, Artie Kempner ’77, Joan Littman Landry ’84, Steve Levy ’83, Gary Morganstern ’73, Adam Schefter ’85, Larry Scott ’82 and Ron Steiger ’72) and four retired faculty members (Fred Cohen, Alan Berkowsky, Alan Fleischman and Bob Wigand) will be honored. Instead of raising funds for scholarships, any proceeds from that evening will be used to provide essential provisions (food and clothing) and school supplies for those students most affected from Kennedy High School.  I anticipate that we will purchase supermarket gift cards and retail clothing cards to be distributed in time for the holiday season. More than ever before, your help is needed. Please, please consider doing one of the following to support students and families from your alma mater: Ø  Attend the Hall of Fame Dinner/Recognition Dinner on December 1st. Information to purchase a ticket is on the alumni association website www.bellmorejfkalumni.org. Ø  Make a donation (any amount appreciated) and mail to me at the address below. Checks can be made payable to “John F. Kennedy High School”. Please mark “Relief Efforts” on the bottom of the check. Ø  Take a business or personal ad in our commemorative journal (deadline Nov. 16th). Information is available through the “Hall of Fame” link on the alumni webpage listed above. Again, all funds raised will assist those students within our community. Please come out and support your classmates and celebrate all the good that is part of the Kennedy High School tradition. We aim to help in the healing process and with everyone’s efforts, together we can provide support to our families in need. Thank you, in advance, for your support of those in need who are part of our wonderful COUGAR NATION! Sincerely, Eileen Connolly Assistant Principal John F. Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

The NBUFSD BOE has not mentioned cutting bussing in over a year, it is not a part of the 2013-2014Read More budget. The pensions and benefits are not regulated by the BOE it is a state mandate.

Eliminating the CHSD is a great idea but it needs to be voted on by the citizens of all 4 districtsRead More . In BM we have 5 set of administration - North Bellmore, Bellmore, North Merrick, Merrick and CHSD . Pensions are a are a state and national battle NOT local

Well for starters, why not give candidates 401K's and only pay a proportion of their benefits...HireRead More teachers and adm that actually live in our district...... Has anybody proposed dismantling the high school district......From the way I understand they have tried unsuccessfully to combine, well then how about saving moneu and splitting up the 3 high schools...This was we wont need 2 administrations...... So Lu Scala never had any children so it might be safe to say you have never been to a PTA meetingRead More or a School Board meeting or a budget presentation so then you would have no idea how the money is spent good or bad. I'm sorry that your neighbors make more than you but like anything else you get what you pay for there are educational requirements for teaching and administration jobs, I'm sure you would be happy if all the school personnel could be replaced by minimum wage earners or better yet we could close all the schools after all you have been out of school for 40 years so you don't need them anymore, but thats not how it works. Why is always the uninformed that speak loudest and longest?

A bit of a surprise considering kids come home with a supply list a mile long (and average $40-$75).
