Edward Kraus to Run For County Legislator in 13th District

The North Bellmore native said that he wants to make a difference in Nassau County.

Edward Kraus, commissioner of the North Bellmore Fire Department and a North Bellmore native, will be running for Nassau County Legislator in the 13th Legislative District in November.

The 13th Legislative District covers the areas of North Bellmore, North Merrick, East Meadow and North Wantagh.

"The current state of the county is gross compared to what it could be and should be," 31-year-old Kraus said. "I want to be part of the solution."

Kraus grew up in North Bellmore and attended Dinkelmeyer Elementary School and Grand Avenue Middle School.

Before taking on the role of fire commissioner, he has been dedicated to the North Bellmore Fire Department for more than 10 years, serving as a lieutenant, captain and as a chief with the department from 2008 to 2012.

He lives in North Bellmore with his wife, Jennifer, and their sons, Edward III and Joseph.

"I have a young family and that is important to me," Kraus said. "There are a lot of things that are stagnant in the county and what I want is to make a difference."
