Lori Kaplan, of Merrick meets with her friends and her fellow teachers once a month to catch up and to enjoy a night out.
On Aug. 19 she met "her girls" at Creative Corner's weekly "Ladies Night." The pottery and art studio that offers customers a choice of more than 200 pottery pieces to paint, presented "A Night of Cupcakes, Wine and Pottery."
Ladies drank wine, painted pottery pieces and feasted on cupcakes from local dessert haven Got Cupcakes?
Tina Roberts, one of the owners of Creative Corner, said that the "Ladies Nights" have been very successful.
"We wanted something for adults only," Roberts said. "We wanted a creative and nice environment for ladies and moms to have."
Kaplan hugged her three friends: Maryann Brown, of Levittown, Angelica Hansen of Massapequa Park and Erica Fairfull, of Bellmore as they entered Creative Corner.
"I love it here," the English teacher said. "We find it very relaxing."
Stephanie DiChiara, of Seaford, came with friends and family.
"I usually come and when I saw that there would be cupcakes this time, it was a done deal," she said.
As the ladies mingled with one another, Roberts and business partner, Lynda Joyce looked on.
"We want them to have something different to do with their friends other than dinner or a movie," Roberts said.
Creative Corner hosts "Ladies Night" every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
