5. LION Holds Protest in Bellmore: Members of Long Island Orchestrating for Nature (LION) gathered outside of Worldwide Puppies and Kittens in October to urge Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign a bill that will allow local municipalities to regulate pet stores. 

4. New Homes to be Built on Former Army Base: Seventy-nine new homes are set to be built on the former U.S. Army base in North Bellmore. 

3. Construction Underway at North Shore Farms: Construction starts at the soon-to-be North Shore Farms, which will be located at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Pea Pond Road in North Bellmore.

2. Friendly's Closes in Bellmore: After being on Merrick Road for more than 30 years, Friendly's closed its doors in October. 

1. Massage Arrests at Foot Spa: Two women were arrested for performing unlicensed massages at the Foot Spa on Merrick Road.
