Bellmore Chamber to Host Menorah Lighting

The annual event will take place at Veteran's Memorial on Wednesday.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores will host its annual Menorah lighting at Veteran's Memorial on Wednesday.

Religious leaders from local synagogues will lead residents in prayer as the 10 foot, silver menorah is lit.

This year's celebration will include the singing of traditional Hanukah songs, a chocolate gelt and Chanukah giveaways, compliments of the chamber.

The event will take at Veteran's Memorial, at the corners of Broadway and Bedford Avenue at 6 p.m.

Why is it being done on the last night? One town does it several days before it even starts and the other when it ends. Does no one own a calendar? I guess I should be glad it is being done at all ... thanks?

...and be glad they called it a 'Menorah Lighting' ceremony and NOT simply a 'Holiday Candle Lighting Ceremony'...Let's see what they will call the 'Christmas Tree' lighting....

If you have noticed their is a menorah that has been lit at this location. The scheduling of this community event is at the correct time. There are many menorah lightings in the region that people want to attend, that includes politicians an the general public. You can not be everyplace at once. The scheduling for this night is EXCELLENT....
