Stop & Shop Helps Long Island Youngster Help Others

Arlene Putterman (center), Manager of Public and Community Relations, Stop & Shop New York Metro Division presents 13 year old Cory Nichols, with a $100 gift card, the first of twelve that the supermarket will provide the youngster who has set up a charity to help his local food bank keep their shelves stocked. Cory was featured in a report by Michelle Charlesworth (left) on WABC-TV’s “Above and Beyond” segment. He has raised over $10,000 since 2012, to assist his local food pantry and says his efforts will continue until he goes to college in 2018. By that time he says he will have trained younger students to continue his efforts. So far the money that Cory has raised has placed over four thousand pounds of food on the shelves of the food bank.
