Know Your Rights as a Health Care Consumer

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Program presents a seminar “Know Your Rights as a Health Care Consumer” on Wednesday, November 20, at 7 pm at Adelphi University in Garden City.  Experts are Tom Maligno, an attorney who is the executive director of the William Randolph Hearst Public Advocacy Center and director of Pro Bono and Public Interest at Touro College, and Denise Snow JD, RN, CNM, NP, an attorney in the Permanency Legal Assistance Needs (PLAN) project at Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee, Inc.

Topics to be covered include:

--How to obtain legal advice and services

--Employment discrimination

--Family Medical Leave Act

--Short and long-term disability

--Medical bills and medical debt

--Health insurance denials

--Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998
