The North Bellmore North Merrick 13-14U Championship Game was held on June 18 at Grand Avenue Middle School. The Rangers coached by Ralph Valentino were the home team with pitching by Sean Napier and Joe Tavolino. The Mets coached by Joe Randazzo and John Trenkle were the away team with Mike Randazzo and Sean McDonnell pitching. The Mets scored first in the first inning and the Rangers came back to score two in the next. The game remained very close, going into the seventh, the Mets were down by one run, the score was Rangers 5, Mets, 4. The Mets scored two more runs in the top of the seventh and then held off the Rangers in the bottom of the seventh with Sean McDonnell striking out two and Casey Cote making a diving catch for the last out. Final score Mets 6, Rangers 5.
Best of all was the entire 16 boy Mets team piling on top of 95 pound Casey Cote after his amazing catch in right field. The winning team consisted of: Brian Aberger, Matt Campagna, Kevin Chaimowitz, Casey Cote, Tyler D’Alesio, Joey Doyle, Chris Kondogianis, Matt Lambert, Kevin Maroney, AJ Massaro, Sean McDonnell, Deniz Ozcan, Connor Pittari, Mike Randazzo, Nick Taratko and Eian Trenkle. Congratulations to a well-played season by all!
