Weaver recently spoke to Patch about the fun and unique ways that Emerge Yoga and Wellness can assist you in tapping into your endurance, flexibility and energy. Tell us about what services you offer at Emerge Yoga and Wellness. We offer Yoga, Anti-Gravity Yoga, massage, nutrition classes and physical therapy. Anti-Gravity Yoga? That sounds unusual. Billy Dean's Lawyer Addresses North Bellmore Residents

Strip club owner Billy Dean to go before Hempstead Town Board of Appeals to renew permits on May 23.

An attorney representing Billy Dean, owner of Billy Dean's Showtime Cafe, addressed residents at a packed North Bellmore Civic Association meeting Monday. Dean will go before the Hempstead Town Board of Appeals on May 23 to renew his cabaret license and off-street parking variance, both of which expired March 28. Attorney William Cohn defended his client at the meeting and was met with opposition. "We are not in violation of anything and we are in compliance of the law," Cohn said. "There has just been speculation due to the establishment's advertising." Billy Dean's, which opened in the early 1990s, touts itself as "Long Island's Number 1 Strip Club," on its website. Many residents said that they do not want the establishment in their …

North Bellmore is home

9:31 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

How many residents are there in North Bellmore? Waaaaay more than turned out for the civic meeting. I cruised the parking lot and there were lots of spaces to park. Maybe the room was "packed" but my kitchen is "packed" at seven people. If the club was open during school hours, I'd have a problem, but it's not. They pay taxes and keep a nice facade up in that shopping center.   more ›

Former Viva Loco Location Remains Vacant

Mexican restaurant has been closed for eight months after more than 20 years of business.

Viva Loco, a Mexican restaurant located at 2381 Merrick Road for 20 years, was once a popular and festive dining spot in the Bellmores, providing good food and good times to those who crossed its doorstep. Now, its doors are shut, its façade is covered with rental signs and its interior is littered with abandoned, dust-strewn plates and cups. The reason for its closure currently remains a mystery. With Viva Loco going out of business, Aboff's Paints, located next door at 2395 Merrick Road, is now awkwardly situated between two closed eateries- Viva Loco on one side, and the former East Bay Diner on the other, which closed last year. Aboff's manager, Jeff Bernstein, said that the departure of Viva Loco came as a surprise. "They just closed …

JimmyJacks Closes Its Doors

Bedford Avenue burger joint makes sudden Facebook announcement regarding closure.

Through a peer-to-peer lending site, brothers/owners Dan and Dave Morris raised money from more than 100 people in early 2010 to open JimmyJacks' doors.
