Zachary Parker to Receive Prison Time After Probation Violation

Zachary Parker, the 21-year-old who was allegedly protected by three former top Nassau County Police officials after burglarizing Kennedy High School in 2009, will be sentenced to prison time after violating his parole in August, according to reports.

Judge John Kase had at first spared Zachary Parker, 21, prison time after Parker pleaded guilty to burglary charges in June. But Kase said that deal is off after Parker crashed a rented car into a stop sign near the Broadway Mall in Hicksville, then fled the scene.

Parker's lawyer, Marc Gann, told Newsday that Kase has agreed to sentence Parker to 1 to 3 years in prison at his next court date Sept. 19.

Parker, of Merrick, was charged with stealing more than $3,000 worth of computers after he broke into Kennedy High School in 2009. He pleaded guilty in March 2012 to third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property after stealing $11,000 of electronic equipment from Kennedy High School in May 2009.

Parker also pleaded guilty to drug charges back in July, before the car accident in Hicksville.

Monday's news comes less than one week after an acting Supreme Court judge upheld the conspiracy and misconduct charges against the three former top Nassau County Police officials who were allegedly involved in Parker's theft at Kennedy High School.

Second Deputy Commissioner William Flanagan, Deputy Chief Inspector John Hunter and Detective Sergeant Alan Sharpe were indicted by a grand jury in March on charges that they conspired to and intentionally prevented the arrest of Parker, whose father was a financial benefactor of the police, the Nassau County District Attorney's office said.
