Secret Service Arrests Man for Forgery in Bellmore P.C. Richard & Son
Suspect attempted to return purchase from another store after using six counterfeit $100 bills.
A Freeport man was arrested early Monday in P.C. Richard & Son in Bellmore after attempting to return a purchase he had made with counterfeit bills at another P.C. Richard & Son's store in Greenvale last Thursday.
According to detectives, the defendant, Jenkins David, 31, of Freeport, presented eight $100.00 bills to complete a purchase totaling $790.90 at PC Richard & Son in Greenvale. After David completed the purchase and left the store, it was discovered that six of the eight $100.00 bills was counterfeit.
On Friday, March 4, the defendant returned the items he had purchased the day before at the P.C. Richard & Son located at 701 Sunrise Highway in Bellmore. David was told by the store that they did not have the cash on hand to refund him and was advised to return at a later date.
After an internal investigation between the P.C. Richard & Son stores David was told to return to the Bellmore store for his refund.
The defendant returned to the Bellmore store on Monday at 11 a.m. and was placed under arrest by US Secret Service and Crimes Against Property Squad detectives.
