Hot Roddin' at the Bellmore Car Show
It's Friday Night Lights at the train station parking lot.
The Bellmore Car Show last Friday was a great place to walk around, relax and see some timeless cars. I arrived before dark and stayed until about sunset. In the short time I was there I captured a lot of really good shots and talked to some really cool people. Among the cars that were shown the classic and hot rod styles appealed to me more. Being a lover of early 1940-60 design, these works of art got me super excited!
One of the first cars that caught my eye was the prized possession of owner Pat Dougherty of Malverne. A classic Bel Air Chevrolet, this beauty was black with silver trim and kept as stunning as it was back in the early 1950s. I also admired a few cars that were parked in the same area as Franks. The light blue Chevy truck and the 1940 Fords were some of my favorites.
Along my walk I ran into Frank Giannone. A Bellmore resident for 48 years, this lively Italian man was more than proud to share some information on his 1947 Ford Super Deluxe. Frank has had the car for 11 years and I must say has taken very good care of it! Having purchased it in pretty good shape he only replaced the transmission, clutch, fly wheel and painted the exterior. This beauty was surely a step back into time.

Not only is Frank a long time resident of Bellmore, he has been with the fire department for 45 years as well. He may be a senior, but energy and time is definitely on his side. He also has two other cars that he brings to shows but chooses to take out his Ford more often. I am sure you will find Frank every Friday at the Bellmore Car Show since he does this sort of thing a lot. You can catch him hanging out in his little lawn chair with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step.
As it started to get dark the show seemed to get more rowdy. More people arrived by then and lots of cars were driving around the lot. Parking soon became a problem as police handed off tickets. Although that may have setback a few people some money, I gained a good amount of photos from the night along with meeting some good people, having a great time and appreciating my past.
