Grand Avenue Builders Club Hosts Annual Walk for Children with Cancer

Club raises over $3,500 for the cause.

The Grand Avenue Builders Club recently hosted their Annual Walk for Children with Cancer on March 25 and raised over $3,500. More than 150 students and teachers walked in order to raise money for Sunrise Cancer Day Camp, a summer camp dedicated to making children with cancer and their siblings smile.

Sunrise Day Camp is the only dedicated day camp in the nation for children ages 3 -16 with cancer. It is a camp designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational, and physical needs of these children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night.

Operated by the Barry and Florence Friedberg JCC and situated on the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, this 300-acre wooded site borders Nassau and Suffolk counties. Best of all, Sunrise Day Camp is offered free of charge to all children being treated for cancer or related disorders on a non-sectarian basis.

To date the Grand Avenue Middle School Builders Club has donated $15,291. to Sunrise Cancer Day Camp. Thank you to all the participants in this worthwhile cause.
