Bellmore Convenience Clerk Charged With Selling Alcohol to a Minor

The charge was part of a Underage Drinking Enforcement Detail conducted by New York State Police.

A Bellmore Convenience clerk was charged with one count of prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage to a person less than 21 years of age after an Underage Drinking Enforcement Detail conducted by the New York State Police Troop L on Dec. 30.

According to police, two 24-ounce cans of Bud Light Lime were purchased by a state police underage operative from the store clerk, Kirti Shah, 50, of Bellerose. Shah was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Nassau County First District Court.

Bellmore Convenience, located at 2741 Jerusalem Ave., was the only retailer found not to be in compliance during the detail. Thirteen other established were checked and found to be in compliance.

The State Police targeted retail establishments located in the areas of Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh and Bellmore.

Members of the public who suspect a retail establishment on Long Island may be selling alcohol to underage persons are encouraged to call the State Police Hotline at 1-866-863-3721. Further information is available on the State Police website.
