Bellmore Chamber to Sponsor Friday Night Car Show

After two meetings this week, board members decide to move forward with project.

(Re)-start your engines! The Bellmore Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the Friday night car show at the Bellmore train station - pending permits of course.

Chamber President Ron Mare said he was pleased with the partnership, especially after last week's heated, but productive meeting of the minds.

"The board recognized the importance of the car show for the village," he said. "I'm sure it's going to be good for Bellmore."

The chamber started the process of taking ownership of the car show on Thursday, however, they will need to first secure permits from the Town of Hempstead. Three board members agreed to head the committee.

Mare added that this project is a joint effort and could not be done "without the help of some of the people in the village and the cars enthusiasts themselves saying they were willing to help."

At last week's meeting, which included chamber members, village merchants and car show participants, several business owners stressed the importance of the regular Friday night event to their revenue.

While the chamber was working quickly to send over necessary documents to the town and set up an official meeting, it is unknown when exactly the permits will be granted.
